Throughout the course of our journey, I’ll also explore the amazing and complex world of Chinese fantasies and some Chinese traditions too! With this podcast, I’m hoping to help every single one of my listeners get to know the amazing story and depicted in this novel. I truly hope all of my listeners can enjoy this journey as we explore the shenanigans that happen in the story.

Helloooooo! This is ME

My name is Joanna Lin, a regular high school student in Canada. I like guitar, drumming and honestly just music in general. I also love drawing. Everything you see here in this website, as well as the music you hear on my podcast, are all designed and made by me!

About Journey to the West

Journey to the West is a Chinese fantasy novel written by Wu Cheng’En (吴承恩). It is absolutely one of my all time favourites. The story is about the journey of a monk and his four disciples, a monkey, a pig, a blue giant, and the son of the dragon king who got turned into a horse, as they travelled together to fetch the scriptures from Western Heaven and seek enlightenment on the way.

The novel was made into many different TV series and cartoons. The picture on the left shows the cartoon from 1999, which is my personal favourite. Oh and, did you know that Son Goku actually originated from the monkey Sun Wukong in this story? Pretty cool right?
